Get creative and experiment! We offer 1-on-1 consultations with a print expert at our studio where you can brainstorm your concept, test print, or experiment with different materials and finishing effects such as layering, transparency, metallic or paint finishes. Print on a wide range of materials including glass, wood, metal, or bring your own materials to work with. Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get started?
The best starting point is to get in touch and book a studio visit. We can print on your own materials so you see the results first-hand — artists often find this shapes or shifts their approach once they discover what's possible.
How should I prepare my files?
Aim for at least 300 DPI at final print size. We accept JPEG, TIFF, and PDF, and prefer files in the Adobe RGB (1998) colour profile. Our printer can go up to 1440 × 720 DPI, but in practice 300 DPI is sufficient for gallery-quality results.
How does printing white work?
We can print white in several ways. White can be flooded across the entire file dimensions, or it can be printed selectively beneath coloured pixels only — with trapping to make the white layer fractionally larger or smaller than the colour above it. White can also follow a curve based on pixel darkness: if your image has a gradient from 100% black to 1% black, the white layer will mirror that from 100% white down to 1% white. This gives fine control over opacity, depth, and how the substrate shows through.
Can you print on unusual or non-standard materials?
Artists and makers have brought in a wide range of materials over the years — vinyl and gold records, turntable and mixer components, arcade machine glass, leather, silk, cement, wallpaper, guitar bodies, stones, and aluminium rods. If you're wondering whether your material works, the best way to find out is a test print.
Is there a minimum order, and how does pricing work?
There is no minimum order — a single print is fine. Pricing is based on studio time, with a minimum of 30 minutes at €125/hr (ex. VAT). BBK Berlin members receive a 20% discount, bringing the hourly rate to €100/hr. A 30-minute session therefore starts at €62.50, or €50 for BBK members.
How long does production take?
With files and materials ready, production is typically two working days. It's also possible to bring your material to an appointment, print on the spot, and leave with the finished piece the same day. Get in touch to arrange a time.
Does the BBK discount apply to everything?
The 20% BBK discount applies to studio time only, not materials. We can source materials on your behalf at standard cost, or you're welcome to bring your own.
Can you help with installation?
We can help with installation for projects in and around Berlin. Installation is quoted separately — get in touch to discuss your requirements.
How is pricing structured — is delivery included?
All pricing is based on collection from our studio in Berlin-Kreuzberg. Delivery is available at an extra cost — please mention this when requesting a quote.
