Congo Tales — Photo Prints on Aluminium for an Exhibition in the Congo

For an exhibition deep in the Congo, the prints had to be lightweight, durable, and plastic-free. Aluminium was the answer.
Photographer Pieter Henket documented remote ecosystems and their inhabitants as part of "Congo Tales" — a chapter of the multimedia series "Tales of Us", produced by Eva Vonk. For a local exhibition of his work in the Congo, a print material had to meet three requirements simultaneously: light enough for transport to remote terrain, resistant enough for the climate, and plastic-free. Glass was ruled out — too heavy and too fragile. Acrylic glass was not an option, as plastic does not belong in these ecosystems. The choice fell on aluminium: lightweight, durable and fully recyclable. Glastrix produced the prints using UV direct print on aluminium panels.
Challenge

Outcome
UV direct prints on aluminium for the "Congo Tales" exhibition by @pieterhenket — displayed in a remote region of the Congo.
